The night so warm I could fall in love
with anything
including myself. My loves. You are the only people
I’d surrender my softness to.
The moon so blue. And yes, what’s gold
is gold. What’s real
is us despite
a country so grieved, so woke, so death.
Our gloom as loud as shells.

Listen. Even the ocean begs.
Put your hands in the sand, my friend.
It’s best we bury ourselves.
What’s heavy.               What’s heavy?
Becomes light.

news to know this week

Deadly fighting has broken out in Sudan as the country’s main paramilitary group, the Rapid Support Forces (RSF), battles Sudanese Armed Forces for control of major infrastructure and government sites in the capital city Khartoum. As of April 16, 56 civilians had been killed.

Last Thursday, 21-year-old Massachusetts National Guardsman Jack Teixeira was arrested at home and charged with the unauthorized detention and willful distribution of - tl;dr, leaking - top secret items on a Discord server. He’ll appear in court again on Wednesday and is currently being held without bail. He faces a maximum prison sentence of 15 years.

Coachella kicked off its first weekend with performances from Bad Bunny, BLACKPINK, Rosalia, MUNA, boygenius, Kaytranada, the Weeknd, and so many others, ending last night with a performance (but no livestream) from Frank Ocean. He had not performed since 2017.

The US Supreme Court temporarily blocked lower court rulings that imposed tighter restrictions on access to the mifepristone, briefly preserving availability to the key abortion pill, used in the most common abortion method.
