i can’t believe you’re reading this you absolute silly angel thank you

i should start with a poem. someone else’s, probably, like:

“In Passing” by Lisel Mueller
How swiftly the strained honey
of afternoon light
flows into darkness

and the closed bud shrugs off
its special mystery
in order to break into blossom

as if what exists, exists
so that it can be lost
and become precious

I am figuring this all out. I think what I’ll do is something like this:

news you need to know:

  • Parts of Puerto Rico remain without power days after Hurricane Fiona hit. An island already weakened by corrupt government, federal neglect, and fragile infrastructure, and which had not fully recovered from Hurricane Maria five years ago, these natural disasters can very well spell irreparable damage to an incredible, beautiful, and important island.

  • State governments continue to fight the abortion battle, and there are wins and losses every day in the courts - news news links etc.

  • Migrants who say they were tricked into boarding planes in an inhumane and immoral political move by Florida Gov Ron DeSantis are taking legal action against the governor. Almost 50 mostly Venezuelan asylum seekers landed in Martha’s Vineyard late on September 14 and were welcomed by the beach community, much to the definite chagrin of DeSantis - and Texas Gov Greg Abbott, who on September 15 similarly bussed migrants to Washington.

  • Midterms are coming up fast. Check your voter registration and which candidates are up for election and re-election.
