Hello world, welcome back to the disturbed universe. I love spinning on this nice rock with you.
"Milkweed" by James Wright
While I stood here, in the open, lost in myself,
I must have looked a long time
Down the corn rows, beyond grass,
The small house,
White walls, animals lumbering toward the barn.
I look down now. It is all changed.
Whatever it was I lost, whatever I wept for
Was a wild, gentle thing, the small dark eyes
Loving me in secret.
It is here. At a touch of my hand,
The air fills with delicate creatures
From the other world.

confronting the imposter
Who is this? Not me - no, the other I, my evil twin tricks me with a confusing grin and backs me into our favorite corner. Isn’t comparison the thief of joy? What if self-doubt is the only sin?
What does your impostor say? Mine usually: why are you writing? What would you have to say that no one has already written, that someone more justified has said in better ways with more conviction?
What Rilke wrote - Let everything happen to you: beauty and terror. Just keep going. No feeling is final.
Let yourself loose. Flip the vinyl. Find the start and feel the steps innate like it’s primal. The enemy mind is flighty, vital, inevitable, idle until the moment strikes. Your fear is the you you refuse and you’re too scared to like. Don’t let yourself lose.
I got to see my college friend and absolute phenom Sophie Allison of Soccer Mommy demolish at Webster Hall this week. We met on our first day at NYU when we were placed together in cohort. It was something else to see her completely shredding just feet away from the dorm room where I watched her upload her EP to Bandcamp.
Soccer Mommy’s current tour set list is below. See them live at your first opportunity.
